The 14th stage of the
Vuelta a Espana was a day of glory for
Remco Evenepoel, right after one of heartbreak. A long breakaway effort and a solo win in the mountain stage was the grand highlights of the third weekend of the race so far.
The Belgian attacked together with Romain Bardet in the final 90 kilometers and then dropped the Frenchman to a key solo win, whilst Juan Ayuso tested Jumbo-Visma in the Port de Larrau. That was an unsuccessful attack, and the GC riders arrived together in the finish without meaningful moves on the final ascent.
