In the video below, take a look at the first of his three Rainbow Jersey wins as he solos to glory in Richmond ahead of Australia's Michael Matthews after a late attack.
Sagan would back up the Richmond victory with two more World Championship wins in both Doha and Bergen, asserting his dominance as the Premier one-day racer of his age.

“This was the one-shot race, the one bullet that I had been waiting the whole year, my whole career, my whole life, to fire. I wasn’t going to lose without having tried to win. I wasn’t going to die wondering.”

Whilst his form and his interest in road racing has undoubtedly waned in recent years, for a variety of reasons, Sagan will be a big miss for the peloton in 2024.
One of the sport's great characters, Sagan revolutionised the punchy-sprinter style, getting the ball rolling for the likes of Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel to follow.
