Primoz Roglic entered stage 9 of the
Giro d'Italia as the best positioned overall classification contender but very quickly his race has been turned around completely. The Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe has suffered a crash and shortly after a puncture which is putting him under extreme pressure.
On the entrance of one of the sectors, with 51 kilometers to go, an INEOS Grenadiers rider crashed on the gravel and behind him several riders went down. Although they seemingly avoided injuries, Primoz Roglic and
Tom Pidcock both crashed and began losing time as the peloton was not stopping.
Pidcock regained position in the main GC group but Roglic did not, and with 45 kilometers to go Roglic suffered a puncture which costs him even more time on the road.
