Kaden Groves looked like dominating the bunch sprints at the 2023 Vuelta a Espana after taking the first couple of them. Since though, the Alpecin-Deceuninck sprinter has struggled for one reason or another and more bad luck took hold on stage 19.
Coming into the final kilometre, the battle for positioning at the front of the bunch was incredibly fierce between INEOS Grenadiers for Filippo Ganna, Alpecin-Deceuninck for Groves and EF Education-EasyPost for Marijn van den Berg. As the lead Alpecin rider lost concentration momentarily however, disaster struck and the entire team including their star sprinter were wiped out.
