The
Tour de France has completely erupted on stage 11, the 'easiest' day on paper of the second week. We have seen
Jonas Vingegaard attack
Tadej Pogacar, with
Ben Healy and
Remco Evenepoel also involved in the action and going all-out during an unexpected moment of the race.
The stage into Toulouse has been raced at an extremely high pace and although there is a breakaway on the day, there has not been a moment of rest for the riders who up until the final 60 kilometers have ridden at an average speed of almost 50Km/h. There were several groups up the road when Vingegaard decided to try and surprise.
With over 65 kilometers to go the Dane went on the attack on a short climb, catching by surprise a badly-positioned Pogacar. He was only joined by yellow jersey Ben Healy and the two linked up with a group containing Wout van Aert and Kévin Vauquelin. The moment of urgency then saw a response from Remco Evenepoel whilst the World Champion has to come from behind and close the gap himself to the front as well.
