VIDEO: Highlights of thrilling final stage of 2024 Criterium du Dauphine as Primoz Roglic and Matteo Jorgenson go head to head for race win

The 2024 Criterium du Dauphine came to a thrilling crescendo on stage 8 this Sunday afternoon. Primoz Roglic and Matteo Jorgenson went head to head for the Maillot Jaune, with Carlos Rodriguez taking the stage win.

With just over 5km to go, Carlos Rodriguez made an attack. Jorgenson was straight on the back wheel, as was Derek Gee and Santiago Buitrago. Notably though, Roglic was in trouble. Noticing the situation, Jorgenson, who started the day second at 1:02 took to the front of the leaders group and started to push on and when the Team Visma | Lease a Bike leader launched his final brutal acceleration, only Rodriguez could follow the American. In the end, it was Rodriguez who took the stage, and the experience of Roglic proved key as he limited losses to survive a real scare with his Maillot Jaune in tact.
