Having controversially been denied victory in a photo-finish back in 2021,
Tom Pidcock finally got himself onto the top step of the
Amstel Gold Race podium in 2024 after a thrilling edition of the Dutch classic.
Although
Mathieu van der Poel started the race as the hot favourite, the world champion admittedly "didn't have the legs of the past few weeks." With van der Poel absent from the head of the race, victory came down to a thrilling four-way sprint between Pidcock,
Marc Hirschi,
Tiesj Benoot and
Mauri Vansevenant. After the close finale back in 2021 with Wout van Aert, this time Pidcock left no one in any doubt and powered to the win. See the highlights of a dramatic day down below!
