A day that had promised much, stage 7 turned into a relatively calm day. Although the expected general classification battle never transpired, three breakaway riders did battle with each looking for their first career victory.
Davide Bais, Karel Vacek and Simone Petilli had all never tasted the sweet nectar of a professional win before today and in the finale, the trio had plenty of time to play with over the peloton as they did battle for the stage win. With Vacek on the front, Petilli made his move but as he tired it was left to EOLO-Kometa rider Bais to storm around his compatriot and take a life-changing victory.
