Yesterday's stage to Alpe d'Huez saw a lot of commotion as the GC riders battled it out in the crowd-filled final climb, however before they got there the race was not without incidents, with
Yves Lampaert and
Steven Kruijswijk victims of an avoidable crash.
In the first part of the stage, in a section with a large audience, a dog walked out on the road and into the incoming peloton. The animal was unhurt, however it led to Steven Kruijswijk and Yves Lampaert crashing. The Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl was left with a deep wound on his right thigh, having said on an Instagram story "After already many times; please keep your dog at home!!!!!"
Both riders took to the start today in Le Bourg d'Oisans, and both will have important roles in protecting Fabio Jakobsen and Jonas Vingegaard respectively.
