VIDEO: Disaster narrowly avoided at 2025 Tour de Pologne after fan crosses the barriers to retrieve his jumper just as sprint opens up

Stage 1 of the 2025 Tour de Pologne was already a crash-marred affair, with Sam Bennett the most notable name to come down in a crash inside the final kilometres on Monday afternoon. Very nearly however, things were even more chaotic after a fan leapt over the barriers at the roadside with the peloton closing fast.

In a video posted to TNT Sports Cycling's Instagram page, a fan can be seeing jumping over the barricade to retrieve an item of clothing, before desperately attempting to leap back to the safety of the other side as a rampant peloton started to open their final sprints. "Tense moment as a fan steps onto the road to retrieve a jumper — just as the opening stage of the Tour of Poland nears its finish!" TNT Sports' caption of the video reads.

Thankfully, disaster was avoided and Team Visma | Lease a Bike's Olav Kooij sprinted to the win at the line. You can see the video for yourself however, down below!
