UAE Team Emirates - XRG's leadership debate at the 2025 Vuelta a Espana may have already been settled. On the first mountain top finish of the Grand Tour, Juan Ayuso has been dropped surprisingly early, leaving Joao Almeida to fend for himself.
On what looks to be a mixed day for UAE Team Emirates - XRG, teammate Jay Vine soars towards a likely solo stage win, but Ayuso in big trouble behind, was among the very first riders dropped from the peloton on the final climb of the day. In terms of the Red Jersey, it doesn't change for this day itself, but looking at the bigger picture, especially following yesterday's team time trial stage win, UAE have been dealt a big blow.
