VIDEO: Big crash at the Tour de Suisse sees numerous riders go down hard

Stage 2 of the 2023 Tour de Suisse has been rocked by a big crash in the front half of the peloton with numerous riders going down hard.
Although big name such as Remco Evenepoel and Wout van Aert look to have avoided the incident, a Jumbo-Visma teammate of van Aert, Koen Bouwman seemed to be in some pain. Another notable rider to hit the deck was Kaden Groves although he has since regained contact with the bunch.

- Yates led by 1:40 over the top of the final climb which in theory should have been easy to recover except for Wout the hero. Wout won it for Yates by pulling himself inside out through the valley! - What really happened is that Del Toro and Carapaz both goofed by refusing to work together. They had spent so many days trying to neutralise each other that when the time came to join forces to bring back Yates, their feelings of racing enmity trumped clear thinking. - Del Toro should never have followed Carapaz initial attack and instead have his team around him to set a hard temp on an hour long climb to reel him back in. - Felix Serna says it exactly right about Del Toro. How could anyone just voluntarily give up victory in that manner? Carapaz obviously was trying to fight for the win, but I think clearly he ended up disgusted by the way Del Toro was riding - not even willing to ride hard on the descent to fight for the win - and thus in the end Carapaz just felt what can I do with someone riding like this.AndrewK31-05-2025
