Today in the
Giro d'Italia we had a huge scare with the fall of
Alessio Martinelli. The Italian VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè rider was in the breakaway when in the middle of the descent he went to the ground with such bad luck that, as it was raining and the ground was wet, he fell down an embankment.
The fall saw him slide out throughout several meters with no way of stopping, leading to scary footage. After several minutes without information, the team informed through Eurosport that the cyclist was being rescued and that he was conscious and without any serious injury. You can see in the cover photo how they had to pull him out and in the attached video how the fall happened.
The latest news, coming from the
team's social media page, is that he has already been transferred to the hospital, that he is conscious and his condition is stable.
