Alberto Dainese of Team DSM-Firmenich has powered his way to a bunch sprint on the opening stage of the 2023 Arctic Race of Norway.
After six riders had tried their luck in the breakaway, their day out front was ended with 16 kilometres to go, setting the race up perfectly for the expected bunch finish.
Into the final few kilometres and Daryl Impey launched a solo attack off the front, quickly gaining a near 20-second advantage. Sadly for the South African, he was reeled in within the final kilometre. From there it was the sprint and Alberto Dainese emerged victorious.
