The Tour of Oman concluded today with Valentin Paret-Peintre winning his first race with Soudal – Quick-Step, as Adam Yates won the overall as he defeated a disappointed David Gaudu.

After the race, Valentin Paret-Peintre spoke to Wielerflits, saying "I tried to drop Yates, about two kilometers from the finish. But I saw that Yates was very good and so I focused on the stage."

“It was a great fight,” the Soudal Quick-Step signing continued. “That I ultimately won here is no surprise to me. I felt that my form was very good. It is very good to start the season like this for my new team. There are no more ‘small victories’ in cycling. I am therefore very happy that I was able to win here. I wanted to win one race in 2025 in advance and I have already succeeded.”

The 23 year old joined the team this year, having won a stage at last year’s Giro. He also finished 16th at the Giro last year, and 45th at the Vuelta, and he could be a solid piece of business for Quick-Step this season where he will likely support Remco Evenepoel at some of the biggest races on the calendar. Could it be a big year for Valentin Paret-Peintre in 2025?
