The
Tour of Oman 2025 came to a close on the classic Green Mountain, with the stage victory going to Valentin-Paret Peintre and the overall win for
Adam Yates. David Gaudu will be bitterly disappointed that he could not hang on for the GC.
It was a brilliant race, with a spectacular
Valentin Paret-Peintre demonstrating his enormous class and justifying his signing with Soudal - Quick-Step with his win today.
With 2 kilometers to go, Paret-Peintre, Adam Yates and leader David Gaudu were in the lead and it was Gaudu who was struggling. However, after an attack by Peintre, Yates caught him and the 3 came together again in the last kilometre.
It was clear that Gaudu didn't have the legs and when Yates set his pace in the last 500 meters the GC leader looked like he could not hang on for much longer.
Yates had the overall victory in the bag at that stage, and it only remained to be seen who would win the stage. The Frenchman from Soudal Quick-Step, who had saved his strength in the final meters, showed his class and took the stage win.
Unlike Joao Almeida in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, Adam Yates didn't fail in Oman, he won the overall again and sends a message to Juan Ayuso for the Giro that he is fit and ready to lead the team.
