This week's update on the
UCI Rankings features numbers from the stages at the Vuelta a España, as well as the Tour of Britain which took place over the week, as well as the Maryland Cycling Classic and the GP Industria & Artigianato.
UAE Team Emirates - XRG has scored over 1000 points this week, taking into consideration that each Vuelta victory earned the riders 180 points and they have won no less than four stages.
You can check the
previous update. We can see that UAE Team Emirates - XRG has scored 1227 points over the past 7 days, the team that has scored the most, much due to Jay Vine, Juan Ayuso and João Almeida's stage wins at the Vuelta a España, but also Isaac del Toro's triumph at the GP Industria & Artigianato. At the Vuelta we have also had Mads Pedersen take a victory, in a week where over half of their points alone came from that. Team Visma | Lease a Bike scored 770 points and was the closest to UAE when it comes to these points.
At the Tour of Britain Romain Grégoire took the overall win, which came with 200 UCI points, whereas Remco Evenepoel scored 150 and Julian Alaphilippe scored 100 due to their podium results in the race. Meanwhile at the Maryland Cycling Classic, TotalEnergies' Sandy Dujardin took the victory and added 200 points of his own. Del Toro's victory in the Italian one-day race was also worth 200 points, despite being a level below when it came to attention from the cycling world.
Over this past week we've had XDS Astana Team adding 258 points to their tally whilst Team Picnic PostNL scored 127; Intermarché - Wanty have scored 80;
Cofidis scored a mere 8;
Uno-X Mobility scored 305 and Arkéa - B&B Hotels did not score a single point.
In the 2023-2025 rankings we have UAE Team Emirates - XRG with 98.365 points, at the top followed distantly by Team Visma | Lease a Bike with 68.540 and Lidl-Trek with 50.997 points. Towards the bottom is where the interest currently lies.
In 16th place XDS Astana defended their position this week and currently have 27.095 points; With a hefty buffer over Team Picnic PostNL's 26.446 and Intermarché - Wanty's 25.671 points. This week the Canadian classics will provide teams with an opportunity to score big points outside of the Vuelta, and the truth is that neither Picnic PostNL or Intermarché are taking advantage of the Spanish Grand Tour, where they are failing to achieve any meaningful result and are unlikely to do so.
Intermarché's lack of points mean that Uno-X Mobilty, who scored over 300 points this past week - mostly at the Maryland Cycling Classic with Jonas Abrahamsen and Anders Johannessen - have closed the gap further, and have 24.611 points (just over 1000 to close the gap fully). This means the relegation/promotion battle is fully alive, with only five weeks of racing remaining. The Intermarché-Lotto merger may affect this quite a lot, meaning that 19th place Uno-X could already be in position to climb to World Tour.
But this is because they have overtaken Cofidis, who barely scored a point this past week, and have now 24.349 points, losing ground to Uno-X and being out of the World Tour even in the best case scenario. However it still sits over 2000 points ahead Arkéa and is comfortably in 20th place at the moment.
