UCI Rankings Team Update | UAE steer clear of rivals after Pogacar’s Sanremo masterclass

UAE Team Emirates - XRG’s dominance not only holds, it hardens after a week in which the Classics scattered points more unevenly. Unlike the previous competitive block - focused on Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico - where the Emirati squad built its cushion through stage race GCs, they have now sustained superiority in very different arenas. UAE explodes thanks to Pogacar at Sanremo. Here is last week’s ranking.

On 7,953 points, the gap remains vast, close to 3,000 over second place. It reflects not just consistency, but squad depth. If last week Isaac del Toro carried a big share of the load, now the team has scored across multiple fronts, even without a headline WorldTour GC win thanks to Tadej Pogacar at Milano-Sanremo.

The major leap comes from Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, up from sixth to second. It confirms the trend flagged a week ago: they are the only block to cement themselves as a real alternative to UAE. Their rise is not tied to a single result, but to steady accumulation in one-day races, where their structure has been especially competitive.

Behind, XDS Astana Team slips one spot but stays on the podium. The Kazakh squad continues to show notable consistency at this start of the season. Although it lacked the sharp impact of previous weeks, its regularity keeps it above 4,000 points, still a standout tally for a team without a real superstar in their ranks.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike is one of the most striking negative cases. Down from second to fourth, it loses two places in a week which did not suit their stage race leaders. The transition to the Classics has trimmed their scoring rate versus direct rivals, exposing a degree of dependence on more specific rider profiles.

The Classics phase has especially favoured teams with attacking intent and depth on this terrain. Bahrain - Victorious climbs five places to fifth, while Jayco-AlUla delivers one of the week’s biggest jumps, moving up ten places to sixth.

Both squads capitalised on races like Nokere Koerse or GP Denain, where steady points can shape the overall table. These events, less high-profile than marquee stage races, become key ground for gaining positions.

Also notable is the surge from Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, into the top 10 after a nine-place rise powered by Tom Pidcock’s second at Sanremo. Their presence among the ten best briefly cracks WorldTour hegemony, underscoring the competitive value of some ProTeams early in the season.

Conversely, the big loser is Lidl-Trek, tumbling from third to fifteenth. It is one of the steepest drops on the board and reflects a week well below expectations after their excellent previous run. A similar slide hits Alpecin-Premier Tech, down eleven to 20th, counting massive losses after Van der Poel's only 8th place at Sanremo.
