UAE Team Emirates - XRG is using the five-day long
Vuelta a Andalucia later this February to give freedom to some of their climbers to chase strong results, wins and even fight for the overall classification. The lineup features no set sole leader, but four riders including
Pablo Torres who will be seeking out their chances early in the year.
The Emirati team has won this race in the past, and will still be a contender to do so this time around.
Pavel Sivakov,
Marc Soler and Pablo Torres will be riders that will enjoy the longer climbs in the race and have the chance to make an impact there; whilst
Tim Wellens and
Alessandro Covi will be more eager to perform in the more explosive days - giving the team a wide amount of options depending on how the stages go, also providing a lot of tactics flexibility.
The lineup is going to be completed, according to EFE Agency, by Spanish climber
Igor Arrieta and Norwegian rouleur
Vegard Stake Laengen who will provide an important support role early in the days. In the exact same days as the Spanish competition, UAE will have João Almeida leading the team at the Volta ao Algarve together with an already quartet of Portuguese riders.
