Transfer: Niccolò Bonifazio reinforces Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux's sprint lineup

It is now mid-December and the transfer season has slowed down, and most of the teams begin their final preparations into the 2023 season as they hold their first training camp. Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux is one of them, however they announced a last-minute signing in Niccolò Bonifazio.
The Italian sprinter joins in from TotalEnergies, after a more modest season. The Italian fast man did however succeed this season however, beating World Tour competition at the sprint on the final day of La Route d'Occitanie. The 29-year old is a proven winner however, having won races at World Tour level, most recently at the 2020 Paris-Nice.

With Alexander Kristoff departing, the Belgian team's sprint setup was expected to come down ever so slighly. However Bonifazio's signing brings in a meaningful boost, with Biniam Girmay and Gerben Thijssen set to be leading the team in the flat finishes throughout the year. Mike Teunissen and Madis Mihkels are also expected to be near the front throughout the year as the team focus a lot on the Belgian domestic calendar.
