Stage 2 of the Tour de Luxembourg delivered for the home fans. After his success at the Tour de l'Avenir, Luxembourg fans could celebrate a victory of their national team rider Mathieu Kockelmann in a sprint.
The day's breakaway proved to be relatively dangerous for the peloton and the move was only reeled in with 5 kilometers to go, with several riders then crashing in the run-up to the finish which made it chaotic. However a bunch sprint was inevitable, but not many would've expected the Luxembourg national team rider to be the one taking the victory on the day.
Kocklemann sprinted to victory, beating directly the World Tour-level Andrea Vendrame and Tom Donnenwirth to the line. Romain Grégoire has maintained the overall lead into the third day of racing, whilst Marijn van den Berg missed the bonifications and couldn't threaten the Frenchman.
