Bahrain Victorious arrives with a clear plan which is the best possible final result with Pello Bilbao, who's already shown good legs in pre-race appetizer - Grosser Preis des Kantons Aargau (1.1) - where Bilbao powered to 3rd place in reduced sprint against some relatively fast riders.
While it won't be easy to defeat the likes of Remco Evenepoel, Bilbao can realistically think of final podium, as the mix of timetrials, punchy stages and tricky descends is something in which the 33-year old Basque excels.
Bilbao's back-up will be home rider Gino Mäder, stage winner from 2021, who is traditionally strong on home roads. Many eyes will be focused on Antonio Tiberi who is on a road to redemption after the cat accident that cost him job at Trek-Segafredo.
Bahrain Victorious lineup for Tour de Suisse:
Nikias Arndt, Pello Bilbao, Filip Maciejuk, Gino Mäder, Fran Miholjević, Johan Price-Pejtersen and Antonio Tiberi
