Records of snow during the monuments don't go that far back, after the famous 2013 edition of Milano-Sanremo in which the race had to be neutralized due to the snow that fell on the course and saw the race's and riders' safety conditions severely hampered. With that memory in mind of many fans, and some riders, there will be some tension as the days approaching the second monument of the season will be particularly cold and with snow in the mix.
Weather for Oudenaarde, forecast on thursday 13:00 CET
Although the forecast seems to be more fair towards the day of the race, there are possibilities that there will be negative temperatures overnight, and that will come after several days where snow is in the forecast. Throughout the week there will be updates coming on-sight, however at the time being it is a fair assumption that snow will be falling in Flandres, and although it may not directly fall during the race, snowy and/or wet roads may be present.
The race will take place on Sunday, 3rd April. Saturday's Volta Limburg Classic is also under risk of very bad weather conditions.
