Tom Pidcock is known to be a demon descender, and a recent viral video shared by the Safa Brian channel on Youtube has sparked a lot of interest as he blasted down a public road. However, the Briton has explained why he took the risks for the video.
"For those asking, I did recce (recon, ed.) the descent a few times, it was a one way and there was a car ahead making sure all clear," the Olympic champion shared in a message on Instagram. The video quickly went viral over social media due to Pidcock's immense technique down a steep descent in California, USA, but also sparked safety questions.

In reply of those fears Pidcock confirmed that there were several safety measures adopted, and that although it was an open road, there was no risk of facing a car coming in the opposite direction.
Pidcock concluded with the message: "I've been told it's a 'kids don't try this at home' one - very true! But kids, get out riding with your mates, have fun, i've been 1000's of hours messing around on bikes with my mates before I had the skills to do this, enjoy and be safe out there".
