The heat has been absolutely blistering at the 2024 Vuelta a Espana over the course of the first 7 stages, with a number of riders beginning to feel the affects. On stage 7, one of those was the INEOS Grenadiers' Thymen Arensman.
A former top 5 finisher at the Spanish Grand Tour, Arensman surprisingly lost more than a minute on stage 7, dropping out of contention early on the day's only climb. After battling hard to cross the line however, the Dutchman was reportedly rushed into the back of an ambulance suffering from symptoms of heatstroke according to Eurosport.
Although he thankfully was not needed to go to hospital for further medical examination, the news is sure to further heighten the concern for riders safety as temperatures continue to flirt with the 40 degree Celsius mark in Spain. Our best wishes go to Thymen Arensman

I'm very surprised that even more riders haven't succumbed to heat stroke so far, given the crazy high temperatures that they've been experiencing. I hope that Thymen will be ok, and that he can continue on with the race tomorrow.
