Mads Pedersen proved last weekend that is much more than just a rider from the flat. Long considered one of the more well rounded sprinters in the peloton, Pedersen climbed amongst some of the best in the world and didn't look out of place during Paris-Nice 2025, getting a Green Jersey as a reward for his considerable efforts.
Former Saxo Bank rider and former Danish national coach Anders Lund was watching his compatriot's efforts for Eurosport and was left incredibly impressed. "It's new terrain. It's a new level. It's a new step," Lund describes Pedersen's showcasing of his climbing legs to Eurosport. "He has flirted a bit with the mountain legs before, but this is the most significant thing he has ever done in the mountains."
With the Spring Classics set to take control of Pedersen's focus in the coming weeks, this display of force couldn't have come at a better time for the former world champion either as he searches for that so-far illusive Monument win to add to his palmares. "It must be exciting in terms of opening up more possibilities for what he has within reach," Lund notes in conclusion, sensing the growing optimism around Pedersen and Lidl-Trek.
