Thibau Nys takes his first professional victory in Norway: "I knew I had to give everything right after we came through the corner"

Thibau Nys has won his first professional race. The 20-year-old Trek - Segafredo rider sprinted to a stage win in the second stage of the Tour of Norway on Sunday.

“I'm happy to finally take that win,” continued Nys. “I was close to it many times this year. The team did a great job keeping me up front and keeping everything together. I think Jasper did a great lead-out. When I launched, I knew no one would even come close.”

“I knew I had to give everything right after we came through the corner,” he said of the last meters. “I had to try to create a gap because I know I am quite explosive in such an arrival. That also led to me imploding a bit in the last 50 meters, but luckily I already had a gap. It turned out perfectly.”

Nys is now third in the general classification. Is he also aiming for the final victory? "We will see. It will be difficult tomorrow,” Nys refers to the final stage to Stavanger. “But we're going to try. The last days have been perfect. We will try to finish the race on a strong note and also go for the stage win. I feel great and feel really good in the team. I am living a beautiful life at the moment.”
