"The mountain stage that suits me the least" - Jonas Vingegaard plays down chances of taking Maillot Jaune on stage 6 of Dauphine

On stage 6, the 2025 Criterium du Dauphine finally heads into the mountains, with the first part of a three-stage blow out to determine the general classification. Given what has transpired over the first 5 days, it's arguably Jonas Vingegaard who enters the final weekend as favourite to claim a pre-Tour de France Yellow Jersey win.

After safely navigating a quiet day for the Maillot Jaune contenders on stage 5, the Danish leader of Team Visma | Lease a Bike spoke to TV2, and somewhat surprisingly, didn't seem to share that same confidence in himself as others have in him. “That might be the mountain stage that suits me the least," he previews of Friday afternoon's stage 6. "It’ll be interesting to see tomorrow.”

Just 16 seconds down on Remco Evenepoel, who was actually caught up in a late crash on stage 5, and 22 seconds up on Tadej Pogacar, the big three still have it all to play for. When asked what the Team Visma | Lease a Bike plan will be however, Vingegaard was understandably keeping his cards close to his chest. “I haven’t thought that much about it yet," he answers, before adding with a smile. "You’ll have to ask me tomorrow.”
