After a blank 2023, Nairo Quintana will be back in an official team jersey in 2024 with his return to Movistar Team being confirmed a few weeks ago. The Colombian, who is in his homeland at the moment involved in several projects, is already in contact with the Spanish team planning next year;
"We have entered into communication and we will start working with the coaches of the team. You have to be patient because I have been a while without competing. While the others were doing Giro d'Italia, I wasn't, I was with my work team in Colombia. Some told me to get up and others that I was crazy and a few told me to go to work, "he said in statements collected by Ciclismocolombiano.
Nairo is aware that a year away from the peloton is noticeable, but he assures that he has kept in shape with a very high training rhythm. We know that he will compete in Colombia in some races at the end of the year in order to continue with his plan to compete to the maximum in 2024:
"I took that balance and I'm fit, with similar training numbers to when I've done major competitions. It doesn't scare me too much. I know the contact with the peloton is different, but it will be a matter of training and the legs are in condition."
