"The fact that I was able to win there is unbelievable" - Tadej Pogacar cites Tour of Flanders as season highlight after being named Slovenian Cyclist of the Year

Tadej Pogacar has been named Slovenian Cyclist of the Year for the fourth consecutive year after another triumphant campaign, packed full of highlights.

Following the receiving of his award, Pogacar gave a few words to the Slovenian outlet, Siol about his year and the ups and downs of life in the peloton. "This year was a Tour de France with peaks and valleys," the UAE Team Emirates leader admits, having being forced to settle for second behind Jonas Vingegaard yet again. "The last week was quite difficult for me, but second place gives me motivation again."

The highlight of Pogacar's year was, in his own mind at least, the victory at Tour of Flanders. "I hope that next year will go a bit more smoothly. The Tour of Flanders is one of the most beautiful classics," says the 25-year-old. "The fact that I was able to win there is unbelievable. Cycling is very popular in Belgium and that of course only makes the victory even sweeter."
