Jumbo-Visma and
BORA - hansgrohe have entered direct clash. The signing of
Cian Uijtdebroeks has been confirmed by the Dutch team and his agency, All Sports Sport Management Group, have issued a statement in which they confirm his contract with BORA was terminated.
"The agreement between Cian Uijtdebroeks and BORA - hansgrohe has been terminated on the December 1st, 2023. Legal proceedings already have been initiated by Cian Uijtdebroeks and the UCI is aware of the termination of the agreement," the agency wrote in a statement, shared by GCN's Daniel Benson.
"Cian is confident about the outcome of the pending procedure and will refrain from further comments at this time. Of course, Cian is excited and looking forward to the future cooperation with Team Visma | Lease a Bike starting next season."
Merijn Zeeman, leading DS of Jumbo-Visma mentioned in the press release that the opportunity had arised from the 1st of December onwards to sign Uijtdebroeks. Benson reports that the deal was officialized two days ago, and shared this Saturday, whilst his agency also confirms that version of the story. This leaves BORA - hansgrohe in a confusion situation, following their statement where they claimed the Belgian would continue to race under their colours in 2024.
