The Giro d'Italia 2025 is approaching its final stretch. The race is past its halfway point, and now every mountain stage will be decisive for the outcome of the fight for the overall classification. Right now, the main favorites are still Primoz Roglic and Juan Ayuso, but Isaac del Toro has joined the party since the sterrato stage. Are there more contenders?
With 10 stages to go, this Corsa Rosa is far more evenly matched among all the favorites for the maglia rosa than initially expected. In fact, Del Toro is leading by more than 30 seconds over second, his UAE teammate Ayuso. Although there is only talk of both of them and the threat of Roglic (5th at 1:25), there are 3 other names that go as 'tapados' and have almost the same chances.
These 3 cyclists are, according to our CiclismoAlDia colleagues: Antonio Tiberi, Simon Yates and Egan Bernal. Here are the reasons and motives for dreaming about the victory of any of them.

Antonio Tiberi

Antonio Tiberi is 3rd overall in the Giro d'Italia, very much in the fight for the victory. The great local hope to win the race is 36 seconds behind Juan Ayuso, and 1:07 behind Isaac del Toro. Without standing out too much, the Bahrain - Victorious leader was 6th in Tagliacozzo, 6th in Siena and 6th in this past Wednesday's stage.
In the mountains he has not failed, and thanks to this he is in the Top 3. He's still missing his big moment, and from the sensations everything points to the fact that it will end up coming. A big win in the mountains could give him the maglia rosa.

Simon Yates

In much the same way as Tiberi, but even more hidden, Simon Yates is also stalking the maglia rosa of Isaac del Toro. The Visma leader is 4th overall, 2 seconds behind the Italian, 38 seconds behind Juan Ayuso and 1:09 behind the Mexican.
Yates' best result came on the gravel stage in Siena, when he was 5th at the finish. That allowed him to be currently in the Top 4, ahead of Primoz Roglic. In Tagliacozzo he was 11th, minimizing damage by entering with the favorites (8 seconds behind the winner, Ayuso). His time trial in Pisa was very good, overtaking Carapaz and Ciccone in the overall. With a good day in the mountains, the 2018 Vuelta a España winner would have already justified his recent move to the Dutch team.

3. Egan Bernal

His crash in the time trial on stage 10 left him out of the Top 10, 2 and a half minutes away from the pink jersey. However, that is not a problem for Egan Bernal who already in stage 11 warned and showed that he was perfectly fine, and that he will launch "kamikaze" attacks whenever he can to cut time and overtake rivals in the general classification.
In addition, the main reason to trust in the final victory of Egan Bernal is his great level in the mountains. Very few riders have so far shown the legs of the Colombian INEOS rider. In Tagliacozzo he was 3rd and in Wednesday's stage 11 he was 5th at the finish.
