With 50 days left to new year, we have taken a look at the list of World Tour riders who hadn't yet signed a contract to 2025. At the time the list had 48 names, but 22 have in the meantime found a contract or decided to retire. On Christmas day, 26 are still not signed anywhere for the upcoming season - at least that it is known to the public.
In the past month and a half riders such as Nairo Quintana, Esteban Chaves and Taco van der Hoorn have renewed with their current teams. Others such as Rigoberto Urán and Fabio Felline have decided to hang up the wheels. At the time being, we still have a big name in Elia Viviani who whom we do not know where the future lies.
The Italian had been linked to Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team recently who signed Tom Pidcock and two staff members from INEOS Grenadiers, however the Swiss team have finished their lineup for 2025. However, with Viviani's track experience, links to Filippo Ganna, and the fact that INEOS sent two of it's riders to their new development team - alongside the budget freed over Pidcock's departure - may see him sign a new deal with the British team.
The list still includes a whole five riders from Cofidis who completely changed their lineup for 2025. Whilst some have found a new home, that is not yet the case for veteran climbers Kenny Elissonde and Ben Hermans. The Belgian has said that he would like to continue as a pro rider but he wouldn't, due to the risks and the longevity of his career, take a minimal salary position in a small team.
On the list are also riders such as Andrea Piccolo, Maurice Ballerstedt and Leo Hayter who are very unlikely to race in 2025 for their own special cases, but have not "officially" retired from the sport.
