With the Spring Classics almost done and dusted now, it's nearly time for the Grand Tours. At the
Tour de France,
Team Visma | Lease a Bike will, as always, be bringing out a unique jersey and this year's is extra special as it allows cycling fans to feature on the kits worn by the likes of
Jonas Vingegaard,
Wout van Aert,
Sepp Kuss,
Simon Yates and
Matteo Jorgenson among others.
Predominantly black, but highlighted with stripes of the traditional Visma yellow, the new jersey gives the feel of a bumblebee, something not exactly unintentional either. "With this exclusive design, named The Swarm, Team Visma | Lease a Bike honours the dedication of its fans and literally makes them a part of the Tour team," writes the team in a
press release on their website. "Everyone who purchases the special Tour de France jersey will have their name included in the design of the jersey that will be worn by riders such as Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert,
Marianne Vos, and
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot."
"Teamwork is in our DNA and has been our strength for years. Together, we believe in achieving great dreams. For our team, it’s about more than just winning, it’s about how we work together to reach those goals," adds Jasper Saeijs, Chief Business Officer. "Behind every success is a team, and that team is bigger than just the riders on the bikes or in the support car. With this jersey, we’re showcasing the power of that connection. It’s a tribute to everyone who supports us, cheers for us, and believes in us. Together, we’re going for the highest possible goal again this summer."
The properly special thing about this jersey however, is that each one will be minutely unique, meaning for example Van Aert and Vingegaard will be riding around France in subtly different jerseys.
"The jersey features a stylish, innovative look in which thousands of names are subtly woven into the pattern. Each rider’s jersey is unique, with different fan names on every jersey," the team explains. "Fans can add their name by pre-ordering the jersey between April 25 and April 30. Those who pre-order will receive one of the jerseys with their name on it just before the start of the Tour de France."
