Spain reveal lineup for the 2024 European Championships

The 2024 European Championships follows hot on the heels of the Vuelta a Espana. The event will be held from September 11 to 15 in Limburg, Belgium, with Spain becoming the latest team to announce their roster.

On the list, there are 3 riders from Equipo Kern Pharma. The Spanish team is having an outstanding Vuelta a Espana, and has been rewarded for it. Pau Miquel, who is being crucial with his good performances in the Vuelta sprints, will be part of the Spanish lineup in the elite men's road race on September 15, along with teammates Antonio Soto and Kiko Galván.

The big star of the squad will be Raúl García Pierna, who will also be the only Spanish representative in the time trial that will be held 4 days before the road race, on September 11. The route will take the participants to Hasselt in a 31.1km race, almost completely flat.

Also present in the road race Jon Aberasturi and Xabier Berasategui (Euskaltel Euskadi), Fernando Barceló (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) and Antonio Angulo (Burgos BH), completing the list of 8 riders who will wear the jersey of Spain in the prestigious race.

The highlight of the course that will decide the new European champion, is its 222 kilometres of distance with only 1,200 meters of elevation gain. Regarding the favourites, Belgium starts with a good chance that one of its riders will take the European champion's jersey to wear for the whole of next year. Jasper Philipsen and Tim Merlier seem their best chances. On the other side is world champion Mathieu van der Poel, who will be keen to make amends after his failure at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
