Shirin van Anrooij claims victory in Trofeo Alfredo Binda with daring attack

Trek - Segafredo rider Shirin van Anrooij has emerged victorious in the Trofeo Alfredo Binda, after taking the lead with 20 kilometers remaining and maintaining it until the finish line. Elisa Balsamo secured second place while Vittoria Guazzini completed the podium.

The peloton remained largely intact in the early stages of the race, with few notable attacks. However, some riders did try to pull away at the 60-kilometre mark but were ultimately reeled in by the larger group. With just 30 kilometres left to go, Karlijn Swinkels, Eleonora Ciabocco, and Loes Adegeest were leading the race by 45 seconds.

Within the next 6 kilometres, the peloton caught up with the trio. Shirin van Anrooij then made a bid for the lead and established a slight advantage of 10 seconds with 20 kilometres remaining. Over the next 10 kilometres, the gap widened to over 30 seconds.

The Dutch rider was able to keep her competitors at bay, enabling her to cross the finish line on her own and celebrate her first win of the season. Elisa Balsamo finished second and Vittoria Guazzini completed the podium.
