A delivery van drives onto the course at Coppa Bernocchi
The 2026 Coppa Bernocchi saw Decathlon CMA CGM rider Noa Isidore take a major win, with the 22-year-old taking a bunch sprint finish marred by a finale crash. However, a scary moment earlier in the race has also gained headlines.
With just over 19 kilometres to go, the breakaway still held a lead of 40 seconds on the chasers behind while the peloton found themselves further back. Approaching a tense finale, a Eurosport clip appeared to show a delivery van enter the course.
In the video, the breakaway pass a minor junction with the van. After the riders and following motorbikes and car pass, the van enters the course and seemingly follows the breakaway - ahead of the rest of the race.
There have been no reports that the incidents affected any riders in the race, thankfully. The incident comes just weeks after a vehicle on the course led to a tragic collision with Finlay Tarling. The event led to calls for increased safety measures around the marshalling of routes in cycling.

In the Italian classic's finale, the race eventually came back together for a bunch sprint in Legnano. Isidore took the victory ahead of Tommaso Dati.
Marijn van den Berg originally completed the podium, but was later relegated Movistar's Orluis Aular was officially declared third place. A crash in the finale notably involved Filippo Ganna.
While some riders got through the finale, Alex Aranbaru and Andrea Raccagni suffered major injuries. Cofidis rider Aranbaru suffered a right collarbone fracture and a composite fracture to the iliac wing. Meanwhile, Raccagni broke his third cervical vertebra.

Crash in finale

The 2026 Coppa Bernochi route offered 178.1 kilometres starting and finishing in Legnano. A local circuit featured seven repetitions of a climb to Caramamma provided a platform for both the breakaway and attackers in an exciting day of racing in the Italian classics.
A breakaway featuring the likes of Ben Granger, Sergio Samitier, Samuel Fernandez and Samuele Zoccorato dictated the pace for the day, leading by around four minutes at its peak - but the peloton behind would burst into life in the final 50 kilometres.
The flatter terrain soon favoured the breakaway as their gap held steady, holding 25 seconds with 10 kilometres to go and the peloton reeling in the chasers ahead of the finale. Versatile sprinters such as Kaden Groves, Ben Turner, Dorian Godon, Laurence Pithie and an in-form Michael Matthews all sensed their chance for victory.
However, the bunch sprint crash didn't quite work out for some as Isidore managed to avoid the incident and sprint to the biggest win of his career.
