About to start his first season at Movistar, Ruben Guerreiro is excited to get going. "I'm 28, but it's like I'm 20. I'm like a child because it's like I'm reborn. This year I found myself as a cyclist and as a person."
A two-time top 20 finisher at Grand Tours, Guerreiro's job for Movistar in 2023 will be to try and help Enric Mas claim a first-career Grand Tour win. "I will help Enric Mas for a large part of the year," he says. "I would like to go on the Tour de France and the Vuelta, because I really have a great motivation before attacking this new season. I can't wait to start the season."
Having won the king of the mountains classification and picked up a stage win at the 2020 Giro d'Italia whilst riding for his former team, EF Education–EasyPost, the Portuguese believes Movistar is the perfect place for him to keep getting better. "The Movistar training opened the doors for me to continue my progress and I am very excited to start this new challenge."
Guerreiro will begin his season and his Movistar career at the Saudi Tour (30 Jan - 03 Feb 2023). "We'll see where I can be," he says. "But for sure I will have personal opportunities."
