France and many European countries are experiencing extreme heat waves, and its effect can be seen on the
Tour de France .
Team DSM rider
Romain Bardet says this year’s heat in the tour has never been experienced.
The temperature in Carcassonne, the end of Stage 15, was as high as 37 degrees Celsius. "Today was not so good with the heat,” he told Eurosport. “I think it was pretty uncomfortable for everyone.”
He continues, “Sometimes, you could really feel it on the tarmac. At the start, I said, yeah, it’s warm; it’s pretty ok. But when we reached downhill, it was like, whoa! Crazy hot!”. When asked how he felt during the fifteenth stage, he said,” It was about getting us enough drinks and ice.” Bardet is Team DSM’s only hope for GC. He continues to hold his 4th position in overall classification just 3 minutes and 1 second behind Vingegaard.
