Sakarias Koller Loland claimed only the second professional victory of his career at the 2026 Trofeo Matteotti, beating Ludovico Crescioli and Benoit Cosnefroy after a rapidly changing finale around Pescara.
The Uno-X Mobility rider emerged victorious after Romain Gregoire launched the sprint with around 300 metres remaining, while Cosnefroy had to settle for third, just three days after winning the Coppa Sabatini. Loland's previous professional victory had also come on Italian roads, at the 2025 Veneto Classic.

Late attacks repeatedly reshape race

The original four-man break of Alessio Martinelli, Diego Bracalente, Emanuele Ansaloni and Kevin Pezzo Rosola had been caught with 90 kilometres remaining before a succession of moves developed through the closing circuits.
Cosnefroy, Jai Hindley and Natnael Tesfatsion were among an eight-rider group which established a 15-second advantage with 32 kilometres to go, but that move was eventually neutralised.
Andrii Ponomar then attacked with 19 kilometres remaining before Joris Delbove bridged across. The pair entered the final lap with 20 seconds over the peloton, although Delbove was dropped and Ponomar was caught with 8.8 kilometres remaining.
Gregoire launched another attack with 6.7 kilometres to go and was later part of a three-rider group alongside Alexandre Delettre and Ludovico Crescioli. That move was also caught with 2.8 kilometres remaining, immediately before Hindley accelerated as the stretched peloton approached the finish.
Uno-X Mobility moved two riders to the front inside the final kilometre before Gregoire opened the sprint. Loland proved fastest in the final metres to secure his first victory of 2026 and the second professional win of his career, with Crescioli taking second.
