Paul Magnier has soared to victory at the 2026 Binche - Chimay - Binche. The Belgian classic saw blistering action on the cobbles with plenty attacks and a finale where a sprint was disrupted by Lotto - Intermarché - but the strongest sprinter in the race rode to victory.
With 206 kilometers in length, the Belgian classic is one that favoured the sprinters and classics specialists - although in which way the race would be decided would fully come down to the riders. Siebe Sweirdt, Rokas Adomaitis, Kévin Avoine, Paul Conor, Victor Hannes, Harry Lasker and Léo Schyns formed the day's breakaway, looking to surprise.
The pace up front, with a large group, was high. But behind there were too many teams with big interests, and in the final 75 kilometers to go the pace never slowed down. As early as with 60 kilometers to go the likes of Jasper Stuyven and Per Strand Hagenes were already on the attack, in the race which featured a final circuit with some climbing and cobbled sectors.
The break was caught by the Stuyven group but then all were brought back by the peloton with 50 kilometers to go. Multiple attacks continued to take place with a lot of activity from Visma including Matthew Brennan and Christophe Laporte... A new group formed with around 35 kilometers to go including Gianni Vermeersch, Toms Skujins and Lukas Kubis - amongst others.

This group was also brought back. Brennan would attack again shortly after, as did several others, only to be caught again by the fast-moving peloton. Soren Kragh Andersen attacked off the front with 10 kilometers to go but the peloton didn't bring him back, but instead a group with Laporte, Stuyven and Abrahamsen included.
Lewis Askey attacked with 2.5 kilometers to go as the peloton brought back the front group. The work of Jasper Stuyven - for Paul Magnier - behind brought back the move. Lotto-Intermarché hit the front on the penultimate uphill cobbled sector, with Lionel Taminiaux accelerating to drag teammate Jenno Berckmoes and Magnier out of the peloton.
Magnier then launched his sprint first, at the end of a massive effort, effectively dropping Berckmoes and racing to victory in Belgium. Berckmoes and Taminiaux finished second and third on the day for Lotto.
