Results ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg 2026 - Dominant Paul Magnier wins sprint as split in bunch sees Milan and Kooij miss out

Paul Magnier put in a dominant sprint at the ADAC Cyclassics on Sunday as he won a reduced bunch sprint following a late split in the peloton. The Soudal Quick-step rider underlined his Giro d'Italia stage wins by taking his seventh win of the season by a clear bike length.
Starting in Buxtehede before entering a Hamburg circuit, 207 kilometers and five ascents of the Waseberg climb - 700 meters at over 9 percent average gradient were on the menu. The last ascent came at 16 kilometers to go before a largely flat run to the line, making for a perfect opportunity for the fast men.
Rory Townsend's breakaway effort last year spoiled the part, and teams were determined not to fall to the same fate this time around, controlling an early breakaway of six riders: Jonas Rutsch, Benjamin Thomas, Dries de Pooters, local rider Niklas Behrens, Loe van Belle and Filip Maciejik.
Their gap had floated above four minutes before a turn of pace in the final third of racing brought it right back below two minutes with 50 kilometers to go. It was a family affair in the counter-attack at Florain and Gianni Vermeesch made a break from the peloton. The brothers - with UAE Team Emirates - XRG and Red Bull - BORA Hansgrohe respectively - got away after Tim Rex had previously attacked.
The duo were brought back as the activity saw the gap sink to 1:20 as multiple teams attempted to start the party. De Pooter felt the pace in the break as he struggled to hold on with 37 kilometers to go.
Race splits apart ahead of finale
The race soon split apart as Rutsch and Thomas attempted to go alone, while there were crashes for Isaac del Toro - catching an assistant's bag during feeding - as well as Biniam Girmay as the gap to the front tumpled and the favourites came out to play. At the front, van Belle and Behrens worked well to make it four at the front with a gap of 45 seconds with just over 20 kilometers remaining.
Over the top of the final ascent of the Waseberg, Rutsch and Thomas proved the strongest but were soon swallowed up by the peloton as del Toro pulled the group down the descent - bringing the race back together with just 14 kilometers to go.

There was a split in the peloton in the finale as Jonathan Milan and Olav Kooij missed out, with Visma and Soudal Quickstep working for Filippo Fiorelli and Paul Magnier.
Heading into the final kilometer, it was the Frenchman who was launched from 300 meters out, holding off the likes of Mike Teunissen, Laurence Pithie and the rest in chase as the split saw some of the race's top sprinters once again miss out on the run to the line in Germany. Other riders in the top ten included Milan Fretin, Soren Waerenskjold and Arnaud de Lie.
