"Perfect way to end this week" - Aurelien Paret-Peintre wins final stage of 2024 Tour of the Alps in one-three with brother Valentin

What a day for the Paret-Peintre family on stage 5 of the 2024 Tour of the Alps. Aurelien Paret-Peintre fired to the stage win from a reduced bunch with brother Valentin finishing third, moving up to 4th overall in the process.

“This is the perfect way to end this week. I am very happy with this victory. In the last kilometre I knew that I could be the riders with the best sprint,” said the stage winner in his post-stage interview, with team leader Ben O'Connor also making it a great day for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team. “It's also nice that Ben finishes on the final podium. We have had a good week.”

With O'Connor finishing second overall, Valentin Paret-Peintre fourth in the GC and Aurelien securing a stage win, Decathlon are understandably heading to the Giro d'Italia high on confidence.

"This week in the Tour of the Alps marked the end of our preparation," concludes Aurelien Paret-Peintre, a stage winner at the Giro d'Italia in 2023. "Our focus now goes completely to the Giro, where we start with ambition.”
