Pavel Sivakov will not compete in this week's French National Championship. He is sick and unable to compete, after a disappointing performance at La Route d'Occitanie.
"Unfortunately, I have to forego the French championships. Because I have been sick since last Sunday with fever and other complaints, I will not be able to appear at the start of the two races. It is not covid after several negative tests," he wrote on social media. Sivakov was set to race for the French titles for the first time, after having completed a nationality change earlier in the year due to the consequences imposed by some federations of Russian athletes.
Sivakov raced the Giro d'Italia in support of Richard Carapaz, a task almost completed to success. Being a long-term resident in the Pyrenees he headed to the French race motivated but abandoned before the start of the last day of racing whilst sitting 13th in the overall classification - with teammate Carlos Rodríguez riding to a second place.
