After five years with Jumbo-Visma, Pascal Eenkhoorn tried a change of environment and joined just-relegated Lotto Dstny. And as far it seems that the cooperation has been more than successful. The Dutch rider podiumed Volta Limburg and later completed Amstel Gold Race in nice 18th position. Frankly, just after that, Eenkhoorn caught Covid and had to take an unplanned break from bike. He talks about this and more in an interview for WielerFlits.
Just as Eenkhoorn felt well again, an altitude training in Sierra Nevada was waiting for him. "It was quite busy there," Eenkhoorn laughs. “There was Jumbo-Visma, Soudal Quick-Step, AG2R Citroën, Arkea-Samsic, UAE Emirates and then us." However it seems as the Lotto Dstny rider found some good legs at the camp as he finished 11th in GP Aargau last weekend.
The current Dutch champion is thinking about his chances to defend his title in a race that will take place in less than two weeks from now. "Mathieu is now an ally for me. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts racing before the local circuit, to eliminate as many riders as possible before the final."
Lastly, the 26-year old talks about his chances of being selected for upcoming Tour de France. "I am still on the list. If I reach a good level in Switzerland and at the National Championships, then I think it is realistic that I go to the Tour."
