OFFICIAL: Tour of Flanders winner joins NSN Cycling Team as he sets ambitious Grand Tour goal and signs two year deal

Former Tour of Flanders winner Kasper Asgreen's future has been confirmed as the Danish rider has been officially announced as a new rider for NSN Cycling Team. The experienced Dane arrives as a marquee signing as he confirmed an ambitious Grand Tour goal.
The Vuelta a Espana may have just gotten underway, but Asgreen already has his eyes on the 2027 edition as he looks to complete a career trilogy of stage wins after Tour de France and Giro d'Italia triumphs in recent seasons.
After two seasons with EF Education-Easypost, the 2021 Tour of Flanders and classics specialist has opted for a change of environment as he joins Santiago Buitrago as another high-profile arrival at the team in 2027.
Signing a two-year deal to keep him in the setup until the end of 2028, Asgreen was motivated by both the opportunities to chase personal success but also to pass on his experience to the team's young guns.
“It was nice to hear how motivated the team was about me and what the sporting management thought we could both contribute. Specifically, how we can win races together, not only for myself, but also how I can play a role within the team," Asgreen said upon the announcement.

"I love winning myself, but I also appreciate it when my teammates succeed. This shared motivation and direction were important reasons for choosing this team."
The Classics will form the spine of his program, but completing that Grand Tour trilogy is right up on his agenda. An accomplished breakaway winner and engine for all terrain, Asgreen is hoping the starts align for La Vuelta in 2027.
“I still have a number of goals I want to achieve. The classics are obviously very important to me. That is where I had my big breakthrough.
"I think the team already has a strong classics core and there is still so much potential. I hope I can support those guys and use my experience in winning major classics,” he added.

Vuelta ambition on Asgreen's mind
He said: “The next step is to complete the trilogy, and I would like to do that with NSN."
The Swiss-licensed team echoed Asgreen in stating their ambitions to play a role in the development of their young riders, including riders such as Pau Marti and Alessandro Pinarello currently on the books for next season.
General Manager Kjell Carlström said: “Not only will Kasper be given a role as team leader with his experience and versatility, particularly in the classics, but I also see him playing an important role in guiding our young riders. They can learn a lot from someone of his caliber and make use of his knowledge."
