Tadej Pogačar is ready for the Ardennes 💪🏼 The UAE Team Emirates rider aims for a big result at the Amstel Gold Race on his second attempt 🔥 _____ 🇳🇱 #AGR2023
Doubts had been casted this week over whether Tadej Pogacar would race Flèche Wallone. As he prepares for Liège-Bastogne-Liège and looks not overwork himself this spring the Belgian classic was in doubt, but at the start of Amstel Gold Race he's confirmed to be riding all three Ardennes classics.
“This year we decided to ride all three. They are beautiful races," Pogacar told the camera of Wielerflits at the start this morning. “We are ready to fight. I don't think everyone in this race is going to look at me. The course is not suitable for that. You can start racing very early here.”
The Slovenian is confident heading into this Sunday's race, telling CyclingPro.net that "it is a very technical and hectic race. Left, right, up and down, very fast and with short climbs. But I think we have a good team to stay up front and fight for positions."
The UAE Team Emirates rider has raced three times but surprisingly has only finished in the Top10 once, back in 2020 where he was ninth. Last year he finished 12th, hinting that it is not the best suited classic for the Slovenian. However after a terrific spring, he could find himself in a different position this year.
