Jay Vine is staying at Alpecin-Deceuninck, he himself confirmed. The Australian climbing talent has had a stellar end to the 2022 season which has seen interest rise from several World Tour teams, but the Belgian team have secured it's talent.
“I’ve got a contract with Alpecin-Deceuninck until the end of ’24. I did get some contacts from some teams after stage eight of the Vuelta, but nothing came from those chats, no," he told Velonews, after the rumours of him possible signing with UAE Team Emirates grew stronger and stronger.
Vine has dismissed these, and revealed to have a contract until 2024, one year longer than what had been officially known. It seems as if the Belgian team has made an extra move on Vine, with their World Tour promotion likely a motivating factor on both sides.
Vine has won two stages of the Vuelta a Espana earlier this year in impressive fashion, and was likely on his way to win the KOM classification until a crash in the final week saw him forced to abandon. Second at the Tour of Turkey and Tour of Norway too earlier this year, the former Zwift Academy Program winner has been evolving inside the peloton and is being able to show his impressive climbing legs.
