Kaden Groves is proving to be the dominant sprint force at the 2023 Vuelta a Espana and for the second day running, the Australian fast-man was victorious in a dramatic finale.
"My second win in a row in this Vuelta, that's a great feeling," the delighted 24-year-old from Alpecin-Deceuninck said in his post-stage interview. Alongside his stage win, Groves also increased his lead in the points classification, something that makes the victory taste even sweeter. "Especially because I won in the green jersey."
A buffer of sixty points now separates Groves from his nearest challenger in the battle for the Green Jersey, giving the Aussie a big hold on the classification, even at this early stage of the race. “It was another hectic final, just like Tuesday. The wind also picked up, but the team did great," he says. "At 2.5 kilometres we lost two boys to a fall, but we were still able to organize ourselves."

However, Groves was unable to take maximum points at the intermediate sprint, being beaten out by Remco Evenepoel, although it's fair to say Groves wasn't going full gas. "Remco wanted the bonus seconds, while I could sneak in some points without too much effort. That's good for the green jersey."
