"My greatest victory is simply being alive" - Rockets rider Ronan Augé issues major injuries update after being brought out of coma after crash

Unibet Rose Rockets rider Ronan Augé has admitted that his life has changed after a serious crash on stage six of the Tour de Langkawi on October 2nd. The French rider was put in an induced coma, and five days after being brought out of the state, has a long list of injuries and a lengthy recovery ahead.
The 22-year-old suffered close to seven fractures, a collapsed lung and partial facial paralysis as a result of the crash, including boken C6 and C7 vertebrae as he admitted that he may not return to the level he was before.
But in a full update to social media, he vowed to keep fighting and battle to return to action in the future. The neo pro sprinter took his first professional victory Route d’Occitanie in June and had scored two top five performances in the stage race before the crash.
“A few days ago, my life completely changed on the roads of the Tour de Langkawi,” Augé said on Instagram.
“After a terrible crash, several days in a coma, and waking up in a Kuala Lumpur hospital, I’m slowly beginning to realise what I’ve been through.”

Auge admits long road to recovery
The Frenchman is happy to have survived the incident: “The list of my injuries is long: nearly seven fractures, including to my tibia, elbow, cervical vertebrae, ribs, fingers and skull, a pneumothorax, partial paralysis of the jaw, and so much more to overcome. But despite everything, I’ve never been so happy to be alive.”
“I know the road to recovery will be long. Very long. I don’t know if I’ll ever get back to my best, but one thing is certain: I won’t give up on my dreams. I promise you I’ll give it my all, that I will fight every day and I will never stop believing.”
Thanking his team, and those who have gotten in touch with him since the incident, he declared that his greatest victory is still being alive to try and bounce back.

He added: “Right now, my greatest victory is simply being alive. The road ahead will be long, but my story isn’t over yet. I will never give up.”

- Seixas best chance is obviously UAE. They are the best team in history of the sport and they developed pogacar into the goat. They also developed Del Toro to be nr 2 in world. - yes for sure, there will be more chances for him at Euro than Lombardia. I wonder if that emotion wasn't also because he knows he has now been eclipsed by a younger rider w/o his goals being checked off. At least when Seixas over takes Tadej someday, Tadej will have accomplished his major goals. He still has Roubaix left, but Seixas isn't a threat there. And he should find a year to get Vuelta. Remco now is behind at least 2 riders w/o ever having won a Tour, one monument to his name, and the next few World Championships are not Remco friendly. - Remco was at 100%. He raced as expected: 15th best on the climbs and then best in the sprint of the chasing group. Exactly what he did at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, where he was on similar form. His win in Amstel was comparable to Quebec or the EurosRafionain-Glas12-10-2026
